A psychology major turned photographer and educator, John Hirsch received a BA from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1998 and professional certificate in photography from The Maine Media Workshops in 2002. He has taught photography workshops in Maine and Boston and is presently Chair of Visual Arts at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, MA. John's work is rooted in a documentary style, illuminating transitional moments in emergent or changing societies as well as allowing us to probe and reflect on the transformative power of scientific research, community, recreation and land use on the human psyche. He has exhibited nationally and his first monograph And Again, was published by Harvard University Press in 2017.
